Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I've got a talented little horse that
I'm told would probably enjoy dressage work but I've never done
anything like that with him. Where could I find out more about it?
A: British Dressage have an excellent website and their
FAQ pages will probably answer a lot of your immediate questions.
Q: Do I have to be a member of
British Dressage to compete in affiliated dressage classes?
A: Non-members on
non-registered horses can buy class tickets at £6 each. Each
ticket will enable them to enter one affiliated class. They must pay
the entry fee and abide by the British Dressage Rule Book.
The open section of
preliminary classes are open to anyone, member or non-member,
registered or non-registered horse, the horse not to have gained
more than 49 points.
Q: I have just started competing but my horse is spooky when competing in indoor
schools. How can I overcome this?
A: Familiarity is probably the best solution. If you can find
a centre willing to hire out their indoor schools and, especially in winter,
who have trainers giving lessons indoors, most horses quickly
overcome their fear of working in enclosed environments.
